About the Role

Reporting to the Venue Catering Manager, the Event Manager (Corporate Hospitality) is responsible for overseeing the planning, coordination and delivery of corporate functions at Adelaide Showground. This role manages event staffing, logistics and customer experience, requiring a high level of organisation, strong attention to detail, and the ability to build effective relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.

The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring exceptional service standards are delivered while supporting business growth through increased function sales and operational efficiency.

Key responsibilities include;

  • Analyse event operations and implement improvements to enhance efficiency and service delivery.
  • Assist with recruitment and staff retention strategies as required.
  • Contribute to Retail Operations as required, including area management of retail catering outlets, cash reconciliation and stock control.
  • Develop and manage rosters for both event and non-event days.
  • Lead and support supervisors, including training new staff and identifying potential leaders.
  • Manage a large pool of casual and corporate hospitality staff, ensuring service standards are consistently exceeded.
  • Manage the overall client experience while building long-term customer relationships.
  • Monitor labour budgets and staffing costs to ensure operational targets and profitability are achieved.
  • Oversee the planning, organisation and delivery of corporate functions at Adelaide Showground.
  • Provide pre- and post-event labour reporting and event summaries.
  • Respond promptly to function enquiries and prepare accurate quotes and event documentation.
  • Support invoice submission and approval processes.
  • Work collaboratively with the Corporate and Retail Catering teams to ensure smooth event execution.

 

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have proven experience in corporate hospitality or event operations, with strong leadership capability and a focus on delivering outstanding customer service. You will be confident managing staffing requirements, budgets and operational priorities in a fast-paced venue environment.

 

Key skills & experience;

  • Minimum 3+ years’ experience in event operations, ideally in a management capacity.
  • Proven ability to meet monthly function and event revenue targets, with experience implementing strategies to drive growth.
  • Strong experience in staffing, rostering and forecasting.
  • Demonstrated success in building long-term client relationships and leading high-performing teams.
  • Experience managing departmental cost structures, including labour and menu costs, to maximise profitability.
  • Strong administration skills, including invoice processing and approvals.
  • Competency in MS Office and the ability to quickly learn internal systems and software.
  • Experience using Point of Sale systems (Quest preferred).

This role requires flexibility, as event operations include weekdays, weekends, evenings and public holidays.
